Amplify Your Voice is an aggregate of discussions concerning public health. It covers everything from abortion to transgender issues. This even includes the discussion of “Female Genital Cutting”. But what I didn’t find is “Male Genital Cutting”. This bothers me greatly, and I find it problematic that such an effective aggregate does not discuss Male Genital Cutting. When circumcision was mentioned, it was brought up in the HIV prevention section with cited sources from Kenya and South Africa amongst others, which halt at 2007. In fact, they use a statistic from South Africa to reinforce circumcision as a preventative measure. I find this culturally insensitive, and a disregard of genital integrity. It is clear now that there is no medical benefits. If you would like to send them a message as well. Please do so. They are still active, and should have proper information being that this is a holistic public health site. Speak up and let them know male genitals are a part of the conversation, and are a part of public health.
Side Note: This is not intended to reduce attention to FGM. This is a discussion about genital integrity no matter what sex or gender you are.
